Arsenal to compete with Barcelona for Euro 2024 star player

Arsenal according to reports have set their eyes on signing another key player before the 2024 summer transfer window closes.

Arsenal are making significant moves this summer transfer window, as barely a few days after completing Riccardo Calafiori’s deal, the English team are on the move again to complete another deal.

According to official reports Arsenal are now moving to advance talks with Real Sociedad in the pursuit of one of the Euro 2024 star players, Mikel Merino’s signature. Reports indicate that the 28-year-old is a key target for Mikel Arteta’s midfield reinforcement plans.

Reports by Fabrizio claimed that even though the Spaniard is not the only midfielder on Arteta’s list, Arsenal are still pushing to get him to agree to a deal, as they are not the only ones in the race for his signature. Top European teams like Barcelona and Atletico are also on the move to get his signature.

Real Sociedad are aware that they might not be able to get the Spaniard to sign a new deal with them, the price tag they put up for him will be key in understanding Arsenal’s final decision and Smith Rowe’s exit from Arsenal could also be very crucial for Financial Fair Play in order for Arsenal to bring in a new player.

Mikel Merino is a Spanish footballer who primarily plays as a central or defensive midfielder, he is known for his versatility and also his strong presence in both defensive and attacking phases.
