Manchester City could have a different manager in its dugout at the start of the 2025/26 season other than Pep Guardiola for the first time in nine years.
Sky Germany confirmed on its website on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, that Manchester City are reportedly looking at the possibility of bringing in Bayer Leverkusen’s manager, Xabi Alonso as a perfect replacement for Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola has led Manchester City to winning every trophy that is available at his disposal since he joined in 2015. The Spaniard won four consecutive Premier League titles, a feat that has never been achieved in the history.
Alonso led the Bundesliga side to a remarkable unbeaten league and DFB-Pokal winning campaign as well as leading them to the Europa League final last season. He was initially linked to Liverpool as a replacement for Jurgen Klopp but the Reds decided to go for Arne Slot who has been fantastic for the Reds.
Alonso is not the only person on the radar of Manchester City, Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim, has been tipped to take over following the announcement that close pal Hugo Viana will move to City as director of football in the summer.
