Man United legend Nemanja Matic has reacted to the sale of Scott McTominay by Man United to Serie A side Napoli.
Former Man United star Nemanja Matic has expressed that the club made an error in selling Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay to Napoli.
McTominay departed Manchester United on transfer deadline day, signing a four-year contract with the Serie A club in a £25.7 million deal at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
Matic, who played alongside McTominay for five years at Old Trafford before moving to AS Roma in July 2022, shared his thoughts on the recent transfer window.
The veteran Serbian defensive midfielder voiced concerns over Manchester United’s decision to part ways with McTominay.In Matic’s words, “I believe Manchester United made a mistake in selling Scott McTominay. it’s not easy to find a player of his caliber today. Conte is a smart man.”
The 27-year-old McTominay scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 43 appearances across all competitions last season, including crucial late winners in 2-1 victories over Aston Villa and Brentford.
