Chike speaks on memory of Mohbad at London listening party

1 min read

In a touching moment at his recent listening party in London, Nigerian singer Chike paid a heartfelt tribute to his late friend and fellow artist Mohbad.

During the event, Chike shared fond memories of his last conversation with Mohbad, who had called him from Kenya shortly before his passing. “Any day I remember him, I try to make it fond memories of him,” Chike said, reflecting on their friendship. “I remember the last time he called and said he was in Kenya. I just wished I’d stayed on that call longer.”

Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, was a rising star in the Nigerian music scene known for hits like Ponmo Sweet. His sudden death left the Afrobeats community in mourning, and Chike’s tribute at the listening party was a poignant reminder of the impact Mohbad had on those close to him.
